I hate the idea of going back to work on Monday…..3 weeks was not enough time… I’m at the cottage, Marc is having his 40th class reunion this weekend. So the guys are golfing this afternoon, then we’re all going for dinner tonight. Tomorrow we will go to a wedding.
In the meantime I am going to start cutting out a pattern for a little 2 piece outfit for Madeline. This WAS supposed to be something I was going to do while on vacation. I also brought all kinds of other craft goodies to work on. The day has flown so far so I’m going to get to it.
In the meantime I really am interested in yo yo’s…does ANYONE else have this problem? Ready to get into one project barely and mind on another already? When I go home and have access to more of my stuff I’m going to give them a try. Thank you to Turkey Feathers for instructions on making yoyos. It looks like great fun.
Its sooo easy to send people cards these days with all the virtual cards out there. My eldest son sent me the “Amazing Mom” Hoops & Yoyo Mother’ Day card this year. It just made me smile…they sang these right on the ball words. Although he lives only 10 minutes from me and we saw each other that day it really was worth receiving THAT card online.
The card he sent me is from Hallmark. Some are free and others you have to pay for. In situations where you are in a pickle over a card not sent you could be willing to spend ANY amount of $ just to make things right again. Whew. This is kind of cute and appropriate for school starting again. At any rate you might enjoy the link above… I did.

These are the Soaps Uncut
I was thinking about differences between having full and part-time jobs. One difference is that I’ve been able to forget about my fulltime job while I’m on vacation and it feels like I’ve been away for months and not the 3rd week. I’m really getting so used to this. My home-based job however is different in that when products are in demand its “Soap Day” as usual. Fortunately I love making my products and I don’t think of it as being “work”. While I make one thing my mind is working on the next great idea. You can’t even imagine how wonderful all those lingering scents are around here.
These are the soaps that have been cut into bars. Pret-ty…. I will wrap them and label them and put some into my etsy store and Creations by Judi store.
I also made 2 batches of cold process soap. Once they are out of the mold I’ll post some pics and explain that process to you. I have combined different scent blends and I am so pleased with them! They won’t be ready to be used for 5 weeks.
The Prize for the Drumstick Cake – Look in “Recipes” for the recipe… yum!
I had posted earlier about a Drumstick Cake and sending a prize to the first person who makes the cake and sends me a picture to use and tells me how they liked it. Someone asked me what the prize is. What I will send is over 8 oz of sampler soaps which have the weigh to over 2 of my bars of soap! Don’t let the size fool you….they last and lather and are a great way to become familiar with different fragrances. The soaps are fruit soap deli, lemongrass lemon, lavender chunk, orange citrus and a blend of cranberry, peach and vanilla! The lavender, lemongrass, lemon and orange are essential oils…the others are fragrance.
Sooooo…if you make the Drumstick Cake…send me a pic and tell me about it and I’ll send YOU the prize above!
A Lovely Sunset – The Sun Slides Into Lake Ontario
The View from the Cottage Looking Back Home towards Canada
….. such a cool place to be on a hot night…
Last night when it was over 90F we had 5 friends over for a lasagne dinner! Lasagne. Whew. Of course at the cottage there isn’t air conditioning but normally the fans do a pretty good job but when there are so many people the body heat makes the fans work extra hard. Well the lasagne turned out yummy and we finished off with Creme de Menthe over vanilla icecream for dessert with a Mint Milano cookie on the side. It was a nice evening.
Well….today I baked. Fortunately it was only in the 80s today…whew… I baked a Finnish Pulla pitko and Mustikka pie (blueberry) and there was enough dough for some little buns also. I added a little homemade strawberry jam on them when they came out of the oven and a little icing sugar. I brought a little plate of goodies to the ladies next door. I knew we couldn’t possibly eat it all ourselves…we’ll see…*s*.
You know the little pouch that evolved from the notebook cover further along – last week? Well while I’ve been at the lake during vacation I have spent a little time beading on to it. I’ve sewn a little footy print trail for the silver ladybug and I’ve added on some swarovski crystals alongside seed beads. It has been fun…..I may try a little embroidery on it as well. A fun little peaceful project…

……AND Caramel and Mixed Nuts Popcorn
Marc and I made caramel popcorn with mixed nuts with a mini popcorn stand cooker he had received from my son and girlfriend. For some reason he thought it tasted burnt…but I thought it tasted great. Nothing had actually burned so it had no reason to taste that way either. We decided we would take it to the picnic we were going to anyway and I’m glad we decided to test it out on them because they ate it all up! Some people even said it was sooo addictive and wanted the recipe. He is now thinking it was just his taste buds acting silly on him. It was Yum..my!
