Homes Ready for Hallowe’en

With the ongoing theme of Hallowe’en decorations I would like to share a few pictures with you.

This is in front of my grandaughter Madeline’s house.  She has a pumpkin head sitting just waiting for Hallowe’en. Her Uncle Rick made the birdhouse.  She has only 2 uncles and they both have the same name!  Richard and Rick.  The scarecrow doesn’t really know he doesn’t have to sit and scare away the birds…they are most likely flying to warmer places as we speak.

This is down the street from Madeline’s house.  This display looks fantastic in the small area in which it sits… boooooooo  boooooooo…

oh and this is Donald, Madeline’s “brother” as she calls him.  She was under 2 when she got Donald for Christmas.  She named him that on her own before he actually came home.  He’s such a good boy.  He is so calm and likes to play and be entertained by Madeline.   They are good buddies.

Have a lovely day.   Judi

Toss In and Its a Dish

First off what happened to  ???  and look what happened yesterday afternoon!!!! Snow and it was on 32F. Yikes.  Thats not what what I heard on the radio on the way to work!!!    But I’m hoping this was just for fun and the nice weather will return today…

Do you ever wonder what in the world you should make for dinner??? I do.

In the fridge you have bits and leftovers of this and that and do you wonder what to do with them?    Do you pull them out and then start cooking up something wondering what you’ll have at the end?  I do.

and I did.  I took a picture of the bit of uncooked squash from Thanksgiving, baby carrots, onions,  an almost full carton of chicken broth.  I also had a large chicken breast.

I cut all the veggies shown in the picture including one sweet potato, 2 stalks of celery and some garlic.  I fried them up in olive oil.

I removed the veggies and cooked up the cut up chicken .  I added the veggies and the carton of chicken broth.  I brought those to a simmer and then lowered the heat and covered them.  Along the way I added some celery salt, black pepper and poultry seasoning

I cooked them for about an hour and then added in about 1/2 cup of Orzo along with 1 cup of frozen french style green beans.   I mixed them and allowed them to cook for about another 1/2 hour.

The “soup” thickened up to become more “stewlike”.  It smells lovely and ohhhh yum it tastes very good.  I can taste the lovely squash and sweet potatoes with a hint of chicken.  Yum!  I surprized myself actually.  It’ll be delicious with some yummy bread.  Let your creations flow…..

Remember to read my last Friday’s post on my upcoming 200th post giveaway!!!!

Squigees Car Wash

This weekend we were out driving on Saturday with all the loveliest of colours and the most beautiful weather.  I may post at some point where we were driving when I snapped this picture.  It looks like a walking path but its actually the road covered in a carpet of leaves.

Anyway some things this past weekend struck me as being funny, which you can tell from yesterday’s post. Must have been something in the air.  While we were out driving the Love Bunny wanted to get his car washed.  We saw a very modern car wash but it had a huge line up of cars waiting.  We saw another one a ways up the street, it appeared to be empty.   There wasn’t anyone in the line.   There wasn’t even anyone around…anyplace.  Just us.

We rounded a corner carefully with his nice new car.  He made a car wash selection.  There was only one selection and it was $5.00.  The other 3 options had black duct tape over them.  We wondered which of th above choices our $5.00 gave us.

He pointed the car towards the doors and we carefully read ALL the signs.

Cautiously he drove in and everything operated on VERY slow speed.  I think they used up most of the water intended for the wash just spraying the floor in front of the car.  Eventually the sprayers slowly moved towards the car…

I said what will we do if it just gets stuck and we’re stuck in this ….

with no one around anyplace?  Who would save us from getting soaked…

Why did they write “Enter At Your Own Risk”?

We very slowly inched forward and waited for the next process…  and finally it ended and they thanked us…I was thanking THEM.

and finally most of the car was nicely washed thanks to !!!  Boy was I glad we were done!   Maybe we left too soon because they do offer  Complete Car Care…whoever “they” were??

BLUE MONDAY – Honey I’m Home…Honey????

First off if you haven’t yet entered my coming up 200th Post and Giveaway, please read about it in my Friday’s “Girls In My Circle and a Giveaway”.  Leave me a post to let me know you would like to participate and I’ll include your name!!  Good luck!

I hope you had a really nice fall weekend.  The leaves certainly are beautiful and “dying” yikes as I’ve come to realize through recent blogging….the skies were BLUE my way with the nights becoming more crispy.

Its Blue Monday again hosted by Sally from SmilingSal.   Another Monday to show and share Blue items.  Be sure to click on Sally’s blog to visit and see all the other Blueness from her and the other participating bloggers.

On my long Friday drives to and fro from the Love Bunnies I have been passing this BLUE house.  I always just stare at it as I pass.   Today I stopped the car so I could take pictures and share it with you.  This is the scenerio that comes to my mind,  Honey…I’m Home!!!..honey???”

Honey???  Now will I ever find that woman of mine???

The first time I saw it it really struck me funny.   I think they have to use a back entrance to get in that house.  Have they left a little area from the inside of their front door to take in the wood?  Would you want to go into that little area to get the wood risking a pile of wood falling on down on you?  They must be anticipating some very cold weather in that house.  I think I would have just piled it all outside at the back…..but I think “honey” doesn’t mind….

This is my second Pink Saturday.  Beverley at HowSweetTheSound is responsible for organizing Pink Saturday which is just that…a Pink Saturday post.  Be sure to click on her blog to read more from the Pink Saturday contributors.  They will love to receive a comment from you.  They love to know you’ve been there!

The Love Bunny and I are a bit busy today so I may not be able to finish my visiting until Sunday but I may be in and out.  Remember if you follow my blog and have been leaving comments please leave me a comment to let me know you would like your name entered for my giveaway.  I posted about it yesterday.  :o)

Last weekend was our Thanksgiving in Canada.  My brother and his girlfriend stayed at my mom’s place from British Columbia.  Before they came to my place he picked a beautiful bouquet of mixed flowers from her yard.  Now her yard is small but soooo full of flowers this year.  Beautiful flowers.  I think her jaw must have dropped when she saw all that he’d picked *l*.  Anyway it is fall and they looked beautiful in my vase.  I snapped some pictures of the pink dahlia.  Aren’t they beautiful?

Dahlia come in so many different shapes, sizes and colours.  They last so well both in the garden and as a cut flower.

I had another 5 orders for the Teapot Garden Party Birdfeeders I made and sold last month.   I’ve just received 3 more orders and have decided to make few extras.  This is a cute pink one.

Its easy to have pink pictures when Madeline is around.  Her favourite colour is purple but she wears a lot of pink too.  This is a picture from last summer when my mother and her were swinging.  Madeline was 3 and my mother was 78 and its hard to say who’s swinging higher!

Girls In My Circle and a Giveaway

I was sent this by email from a friend.  It made me think of all the lovely blogging ladies who have become friends in blogland.  Friends who are supportive of each other, laugh with each other, inspire each other, pray for each other…the girls in each other’s circle, in my circle…and I wanted to share it with you.

 When I was little,
I used to believe in the concept of one best friend,
And then I started to become a woman.
And then I found out that if you allow your heart to open up,
God would show you the best in many friends.

One friend is needed when you’re going through things with your man.
Another friend is needed when you’re going through things with your mom.
Another will sit beside you in the bleachers as you delight in your children and their activities.
Another when you want to shop, share, heal, hurt, joke, or just be.
One friend will say, ‘Let’s cry together,’
Another , ‘Let’s fight together,’
Another , ‘Let’s walk away together.’

One friend will meet your spiritual need,
Another your shoe fetish,
Another your love for movies,
Another will be with you in your season of confusion,
Another will be your clarifier,
Another the wind beneath your wings.

But whatever their assignment in your life,
On whatever the occasion,
On whatever the day,
Or wherever you need them to meet you with their gym shoes on and hair pulled back,
Or to hold you back from making a complete fool of yourself
Those are your best friends.

It may all be wrapped up in one woman,
But for many, it’s wrapped up in several..
One from 7th grade,
One from high school,
Several from the college years,
a couple from old jobs,
On some days your mother,
On some days your neighbor,
On others, your sisters,
And on some days, your daughters.

So whether they’ve been your friend for 20 minutes or 20 years,
Pass this on to the women that God has placed in your life
To make a difference

I just noticed that this is my 190th post!  Now that is a lot of blah blahs since I first started blogging in May 2007.  But I believe I’ve done most of my blogging since this past summer.  I know its because thats when I discovered this “Girls in My Circle” bloggers I’ll refer to it as.   Those are the ladies whose blogs I love to visit mostly every day and share comments with and whose comments I see on most of the other blogs I visit.

It certainly has been a real inspiration and has filled my thoughts with pictures and adventures and recipes and I’ve learned all kinds of things and even travelled through hurricanes it seems.  In return I’ve loved having you come visit my site and let me know you’ve been here.

Sometimes it seems hard to imagine everyone really lives so far apart.   Doesn’t it almost feel like we share a neighbourhood?  Do you ever feel that way?

Anyway to celebrate my 200th blog which is coming up very shortly I would like to have a Giveaway.   I’m still not sure what exactly the giveaway will be but I am pretty sure its going to be some things I’ve made.  I would love for you to have a chance at receiving my giveaway.  Please leave me a comment telling me you would like to be included and I’ll do that.

Just depending on how much blogging I do….I guesstimate I’ll be drawing a name in about 10 days and good luck all of you.

I hope you have a really lovely weekend.  Judi

Beautifully Eery and the Brillante Award

I live in a small town  and on my 10 minute drive to work yesterday I admired this picturesque view of the field alongside of me.   It was 7:20 a.m.   The sun was awake.  It was getting ready to add beauty to the oranges and reds and yellows in the distant trees.  I stopped my car to take in the beauty of the misty white lying over the field.  Everything was so still and so quiet and almost eery but beautiful.  I’ve learned to carry my camera with me so I was able to share this picture with you and with me again this evening.   It seemed a magical moment.

I received the coveted “Brillante Weblog” award a couple of weeks ago from from Faith at GrandmaFaith.   While I was so honoured to receive this award it wasn’t that I was tardy in putting it on my blog right away, but rather I had to figure out how to do it again.   Today I’ve been able to take it to my site and I will just cherish it.   I enjoy reading Faith’s blogs each day and to see her cows!  She has a fabulous Cow Parade collection to fit every occasion, each day.   If you haven’t been to Faith’s blog yet take a click over and visit!

Now I have the HONOUR of passing on this award to 7 BRILLIANT blogs I enjoy reading and look forward to almost daily visits.  Always something new is waiting.  Fun.

Sarah at a beach cottage

Tina at Cherry Hill Cottage

Tootsie at TootsieTime

Margie at resurrection fern

Sally at Smiling Sally

Carol at Charli and Me

Theresa at Take a Sentimental Journey

Visit the blogs of these ladies if you haven’t already done so.  You’ll see what I mean!
